All of these albums were important on my journey through visual kei and I hope they will be the same for others. On April 30, Whitechapel announced that their fourth album will be self-titled and was released on June 19, 2012. I didnt even include examples for this weird old school sound of bands like old Dir En Grey, Grieva or Ru:natic. There are many great bands, which I didnt include like Kuroyume, Kagerou, Merry, Deluhi or -Oz- and it made me crazy that I have to limit the selection. However I see your point that the band may be too heavy for the average rock listener, who wants to start with visual kei. Personally I listen to many japanese (Inception of Genocide, Victim of Deception etc) and non-japanese (Whitechapel, All Shall Perish, etc) deathcore artists, so I can totally see the band as a good starting point for some people. Nocturnal Bloodlust opened the way for all these new and heavy bands like DeviLoof or Scarlet Horizon.

Personally I enjoy Vanishing Vision a tick more, even if it was a step before they went full visual kei. In the video I mentioned that it was a close decision between my pick and Blue Blood.

Thanks for your comment! Interesting way to find to visual kei. I'm more into other forms of Japanese music. Aside from those four, it's really just songs here and there that i'm into. I guess now for VK I mostly listen to X Japan, DeG, Luna Sea, and The Gazette. I also started listening to Crossfaith, 2side1BRAIN, and Blood Stain Child a lot. X Japan -OZ-, and Lynch were all early favorites. It took a while but I eventually grew to really love the album and started seeking out similar bands. From there, my friend lent me a copy of Uroboros and I listened to it in my car. and that song retained the things I liked about those bands, but also felt a lot more mature and musically developed. I used to be big on "scene kid" music like Bring Me The Horizon, As Blood Runs Black, blessthefall, Bullet For My Valentine, etc. I personally got into VK when DEG released Different Sense. Mother, Withering to Death, and Stacked Rubbish are all great reccs both for the individual bands and the VK scene. Other than that, I agree with a lot of your picks. Not sure what I'd replace it with though. I enjoy them, but they're a bit heavy for most. I would also maybe take Nocturnal Bloodlust off the list. But I still think Blue Blood is the correct starting place for X Japan. I would personally recommend Blue Blood for an X Japan album - it's a lot more representative of both their sound and visual kei in general - though, if you wanted to go best representation of visual kei, I might have to suggest Dahlia.
